JOB DESCRIPTION:
Wood is looking for a QC Visual Welding Inspector – Offshore 2025 for their Rejuvenation Project in Brunei Darussalam.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful applicants will be in charge of leading, managing, supervising, and guiding the day-to-day operations required to deliver the Quality Management scope. This scope will include deliverables, planning, option selection, and economic assessments. This is an end-to-end rejuvenation scope, which will require collaboration with various disciplines such as planning, construction, procurement, and client operations.
- Job responsibilities include upholding Wood’s principles and implementing company and project health, safety, environmental, quality, and ethics systems, policies, and procedures.
- Reporting to the QC Lead & QC Senior Welding Inspector: the major objectives of the post are to guarantee that all inspection of welding, painting, electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical operations are completed according to BSP specifications and international standards.
- Conduct audits and quality checks on fabrication sub-contractors, offshore installation methods, and inspection and testing plans to verify compliance.
- Verify that fabrication subcontractors and offshore installation are conducting all tasks in compliance with the project requirements, specifications, and procedures.
- Perform inspections and surveillance operations as specified in fabrication subcontractors’ and offshore installation authorized Inspection & Test Plans.
- Witness fabrication sub-contractors and offshore installation inspection operations, and evaluation of documents as needed.
- Continuously check the quality and conformance of project data sheets, standards, and specifications.
Ensure all authorized welding activities adhere to project criteria. - Ensure that all authorized inspection procedures are carried out strictly in line with project requirements.
Monitor fabrication sub-contractors and offshore installations to ensure materials, welding consumables, and workmanship fulfil project specifications and procedures. - Report and validate progress as requested by the project team.
- Shall conduct a range of inspection duties with little supervision as necessary to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Create daily reports on the work in progress.
- Responsible for timely inspection during fabrication and installation; proactive in the avoidance of non-compliance and issue resolution.
- Report any non-compliant components to the QC Lead and QC Senior Welding Inspector, which need to be segregated to avoid improper usage.
- Provide weekly information to the QAQC reporting system, regarding trends, unresolved exceptions, and issues.
- Provide early notice of possible quality issues and ensure that non-conformances are recognized, recorded, and closed.
- Provide knowledge to the site team to avoid and address quality issues.
- Mentor team members as needed and directed.
- Conduct aligned tasks as instructed by the QC Lead and QC Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS
Personal requirements include demonstrating a commitment to workplace safety and setting a good example.
- Demonstrable understanding of materials and equipment used in the oil and gas sector, such as mechanical and electrical equipment, instrumentation, structural steel, and pipeline materials
- Have at least ten years of experience in welding inspection
- Attention to detail and dedication to the “Right-First-Time” attitude
- Good coordination and interpersonal abilities
- Good writing abilities, and ability to deliver material clearly and simply
- Self-motivated, well-organized, resourceful, and proactive
- Capable of working under pressure with a positive attitude and adherence to compliance standards
Requirements:
Minimum ONC/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline – CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector – CSWIP Level 2 or PCN Level 2 Radiographic Interpretation
Requirements: BGAS Grade 2 or NACE Level 2 Coating Inspector with PCN or ASNT Level 2 in Ultrasonic, Magnetic, and Penetrant Testing.
Computer competent in MS Word, XL, and PowerPoint, with good presenting skills.
Must be willing and certified to travel offshore.
